History
James McMullan and Son has nearly 100 years experience
serving the local community in time of bereavement.
We became involved with funerals in the early part of
the last century in and around
the Aghadowey district. The late Andrew McMullan (Sen.)
, a tailor by trade, began to supply local people with
clothing for the deceased and cloth for the trimming of
coffins. This led to him supplying coffins and providing
a horse drawn hearse.
The business moved to its present location in Ballymoney
in the 1960’s when the business of K.L. McAteer
was purchased.
James (a son of the founder) is still involved in the
business while Andrew the third generation joined the
business in the 1980’s.
Both James and Andrew hold the Diploma in Funeral Directing
whilst Andrew also holds The Diploma in Funeral Service
Management. He also has membership of the British Institute
of Embalmers and holds a Licence to practice from the
British Institute of Funeral Directors.
The business now has a large funeral home with private
car parking, a modern fleet of Mercedes vehicles and are
able to provide a full range of professional Funeral services.
